Speaker Announcement: Mayor Patrick Brown at Municipal Masterclass

Municipal Masterclass 2026 is a one-day event designed for candidates, campaign teams, and political professionals who want to better understand municipal campaigning and election dynamics. The event brings together experienced practitioners from across the political landscape to share practical perspectives based on real-world experience. Mayor Patrick Brown will be joining Municipal Masterclass 2026 as a speaker. He is the Mayor of the City of Brampton, a position he has held since 2018 and was re-elected to in 2022. His public service experience spans multiple levels of government, including municipal, provincial, and federal roles over more than two decades.

He was first elected in 2000 as a Barrie City Councillor, where he began his career in public office. He later served as a Member of Parliament for Barrie from 2006 to 2015, during which time he was involved in federal policy discussions and regional coordination efforts, including serving as Chair of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) Caucus.

Following his time in federal politics, Patrick Brown served as Leader of the Ontario PC Party and Leader of the Official Opposition from 2015 to 2018. In this role, he was responsible for party leadership, political strategy, and organizational direction at the provincial level.

Since becoming Mayor of Brampton, he has focused on municipal governance and city-level priorities, including infrastructure development, transit planning, healthcare initiatives, and fiscal management. His time in office has included multiple tax freezes and progress on major projects such as Brampton’s second hospital and the opening of Toronto Metropolitan University’s medical school in the city.

Mayor Patrick Brown’s participation adds to a lineup of speakers at Municipal Masterclass 2026 who bring direct experience from campaigns, elected office, and public leadership.
