Councillor Dipika Damerla will be joining Municipal Masterclass 2026 as a speaker, bringing a combination of municipal and provincial experience to the conversation. She currently serves as Councillor for Ward 7 in the City of Mississauga, a position she has held since 2018, and is also a former mayoral candidate.

In her role at City Council, Councillor Damerla has focused on representing residents, addressing local priorities, and contributing to broader policy discussions. Her approach to leadership emphasizes community engagement and thoughtful decision-making within the municipal framework.

Before transitioning to municipal politics, she served as the Member of Provincial Parliament for Mississauga East–Cooksville for seven years. During her time at Queen’s Park, she held key roles including Associate Minister of Health and Long-Term Care and Minister of Seniors Affairs. Her work contributed to healthcare expansion, infrastructure development, and improved service delivery within her community.

Earlier in her career, Councillor Damerla worked in corporate banking and also ran a small business in Mississauga. This experience across both the private and public sectors provides a practical understanding of financial management, economic considerations, and policy impact. She holds an MBA in Finance from the Rotman School of Management.

Her background across multiple levels of government and sectors brings a well-rounded perspective on leadership, governance, and community-focused decision-making.
