Speaker Announcement: Keanin Loomis at Municipal Masterclass

Municipal campaigns are increasingly shaped by leadership experience that spans business, advocacy, and public service. At Municipal Masterclass 2026, attendees will hear from leaders actively engaged in both policy and electoral politics, including Keanin Loomis, Mayoral Candidate for Hamilton and President & CEO of the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction.

Keanin Loomis brings a background that combines law, business leadership, and political campaigning. He began his career practicing construction litigation in Washington, D.C. before returning to Canada and becoming deeply involved in civic and economic leadership in Hamilton.

In 2013, Keanin Loomis was appointed President & CEO of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, where his leadership was recognized nationally within the Ontario Chamber of Commerce network. His work in this role focused on business advocacy, economic development, and strengthening local enterprise engagement.

In 2022, Keanin Loomis ran for Mayor of Hamilton, leading a grassroots campaign that gained significant momentum and came close to unseating a long-standing incumbent. This campaign experience gave him firsthand insight into voter engagement, ground operations, and municipal campaign strategy.

He later served as Vice President, Member Services at the Ontario Chamber of Commerce before being appointed President and CEO of the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction in 2024. In addition to his professional leadership roles, Keanin Loomis serves as a federally appointed Director of the Hamilton-Oshawa Port Authority.

On February 25, 2026, Keanin Loomis announced his candidacy for Mayor of Hamilton in the upcoming municipal election, adding another active campaign perspective to his profile.

His experience across law, business, and municipal campaigning provides a practical view of how leadership and elections intersect at the local level.
