Speaker Announcement: Mayor Cam Guthrie at Municipal Masterclass

Mayor Cam Guthrie has served as Mayor since 2014 and was re-elected in 2022. Prior to becoming Mayor, he served as a City Councillor, giving him over a decade of direct experience in municipal government. His time in office spans multiple election cycles, policy decisions, and leadership roles within Ontario’s municipal landscape.
Beyond his work in Guelph, Cam Guthrie has played a role in broader municipal coordination across the province. He served as Chair of Ontario’s Big City Mayors (OBCM), representing a group of 29 mayors from cities with populations over 100,000. This group collectively represents the majority of Ontario’s population and works on shared priorities across municipalities.
At the international level, Mayor Cam Guthrie was appointed to the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy Board of Mayors, representing North America. This role connects local municipal leadership with global discussions around sustainability and climate policy.
His experience provides a practical view of how municipal leadership operates across local, provincial, and international contexts. From council-level decision-making to representing municipal interests at larger tables, his work reflects the range of responsibilities that come with the role.
